The holiday season can be one of paradoxical emotions and situations. Remember to take the time daily to sit quietly if only for 10 to 20 minutes. Focus on your breathing and let all cares or worries be placed outside you for this short time. This practice is paramount for relieving stress. In addition a brisk walk or some kind of physical excercise 3 to 5 times a week for 20 minutes or more can help your body rid itself of cortisol, a stress hormone that can build up in the body. Remember to focus on controlled breathing during your busy day. A good excercise to perform 3 times a day would be deep yogic breathing. Breathe in fully filling the lungs completely while you count to 6. Then exhale that breath fully while counting to 6. Make it a priority to take care of yourself, remember your health affects all of those you love and care about. It is an intangible gift that can keep giving to you and your family throughout the year!
